Extracting Photosynth Data Into AutoCAD

If your not familiar with Photosynth I put up a post awhile back that shows what it is all about.

Back when I first saw it I realized it was deriving point cloud data from the images and thought it would be interesting if we could get that raw data set. Well we can't get it directly but Kean Walmsley over at the Through the Interface blog has a write up showing how it can be obtained. I can not wait to start playing with this.

AutoCAD Native Point Clouds - First Impressions

Not to be out done by Bentley's announcement last week of a deal with Pointools Autodesk has realeased native point cloud support for AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010. It comes via a subscription bonus pack that included a few other features. After some struggles with getting it installed and my data converted I was able to finally get a cloud brought into AutoCAD. Here are my first impressions and how it all seems to work.

Very Well Done, Basic AutoCAD Tutorial

AutoCAD Tutorial

I came across this site contating a very extensive, albeit basic, tutorial. It is hosted on a Carnegie Mellon University personal account. It appears to be an entire semesters course in AutoCAD with videos. I did notice that it is not Firefox compatible but it opens fine in IE8.
